Soothing Herbal Sitz Baths for Postpartum Healing

After birth, your body deserves tender care—especially your perineum. Herbal sitz baths are a beautiful, natural way to soothe soreness, reduce swelling, and support healing in the postpartum weeks. Simply steep herbs like tea, strain, and add the warm infusion to a shallow bath or peri bottle. Here are two gentle blends to try:

1. Soothing Lavender & Calendula Blend

• 1/4 cup dried calendula flowers

• 1/4 cup dried lavender buds

• 1/4 cup dried comfrey leaf

This calming blend helps reduce inflammation and supports skin repair. Steep herbs in 4 cups of boiling water for 20 minutes, strain, and add to your sitz bath.

2. Earthy Healing Herb Mix

• 1/4 cup dried yarrow

• 1/4 cup dried witch hazel leaf

• 1/4 cup dried chamomile

• 2 tablespoons sea salt

This grounding, astringent blend helps tone tissue and ease discomfort. Prepare the same way—steep, strain, and soak.

Use once daily for 10–20 minutes, especially in the first two weeks postpartum. As always, make sure to consult your care provider before using herbs, especially if you had stitches or complications. Give yourself the gift of quiet moments to heal—you deserve it.
